Proposals

Welcome to the AILIS proposal collection. This is where we explore and refine ideas about AI system architectures through a layered model approach.

Philosophy

AILIS proposals are intentionally humble and exploratory. We're not prescribing standards - we're asking questions, starting conversations, and learning together. Every proposal is an invitation to discuss, critique, and improve.

Available Proposals

Core Framework

  • AILIS Primer - The main framework specification introducing the 16+ layer model for understanding AI systems
  • AILIS Cheat Sheet - Quick reference guide for the layer model
  • Blog Post Draft - Public-facing introduction to AILIS

Proposal Lifecycle

All proposals follow an RFC-style process:

  1. Draft - Initial proposal, open for feedback
  2. Review - Community review period (minimum 4 weeks)
  3. Final - Accepted and stable
  4. Declined - Not accepted (with rationale preserved)

Learn more about the proposal process in our Contributing Guide.

How to Contribute

We actively welcome:

  • Critical feedback - Tell us what doesn't work
  • Alternative approaches - Propose different models
  • Real-world examples - Share how you think about AI architectures
  • Questions - Help us clarify and improve

See FEEDBACK.md for specific areas where we need input.
