Proposals¶
Welcome to the AILIS proposal collection. This is where we explore and refine ideas about AI system architectures through a layered model approach.
Philosophy¶
AILIS proposals are intentionally humble and exploratory. We're not prescribing standards - we're asking questions, starting conversations, and learning together. Every proposal is an invitation to discuss, critique, and improve.
Available Proposals¶
Core Framework¶
- AILIS Primer - The main framework specification introducing the 16+ layer model for understanding AI systems
- AILIS Cheat Sheet - Scannable field guide for mapping systems to layers
- Layer Atlas - Richer layer-by-layer examples, boundary questions, and ecosystem references
Publication drafts and outbound essays should probably live in a dedicated blog or articles area if the project chooses to maintain one. They are not part of the core proposal set.
Proposal Lifecycle¶
All proposals follow an RFC-style process:
- Draft - Initial proposal, open for feedback
- Review - Community review period (minimum 4 weeks)
- Final - Accepted and stable
- Declined - Not accepted (with rationale preserved)
Learn more about the proposal process in our Contributing Guide.
How to Contribute¶
We actively welcome:
- Critical feedback - Tell us what doesn't work
- Alternative approaches - Propose different models
- Real-world examples - Share how you think about AI architectures
- Questions - Help us clarify and improve
See FEEDBACK.md for specific areas where we need input.
